I got to check out Chef Richard Sandoval new resturant, Pampano Botaneria, which specializes in serving Mexican cuisine. Its a lovely 2 story lounge/restaurant located in Midtown East. Pampano specializes in serving a variety of small plates, tapas style (great for sharing & sampling) and while most other restaurants only offer their customers red or white sangria, Pampano offers up to eight specialty Sangrias on their menu (I tried 2)

There are 30 delicious edible plates to choose from on the menu and luckily I got to sample some tasteful dishes!  First up was the house guacamole which, I have to admit, was one of the best guacamoles I have ever tasted at any Mexican restaurant in Manhattan.

Also on the menu is the Paella, which consists of wild mushrooms, duck, and bomba rice. Another one of my favorites from the menu, very flavorful! The Alambre de filter which was mini skewered filet mingon steaks presented with cabrales sauce. The meat was tender and easily delicate when cut. Mixed with the dipping sauce it was quite heavenly!

I got to wash down my food with a Blueberry infused Sangria mixed with cognac, blueberries, lemon and lime. Again one of the best sangria’s I have tasted!  I wish I would have gotten a chance to try more of the food but I will definitely be back.

Pampono will also be having a Valentine’s Day special for the upcoming holiday.

5-courses | $65 per guest | $25 for fine wine or tequila pairings
