A 23 year old young woman with a dream and a passion, designer Natalie Thompson who hails from New York City, is debuting a new brand she calls ‘Laudme’ (which she designs everything herself). Through the power of the Internet (more specifically Twitter) I caught wind of Natalie when someone mentioned her site on their Twitter page. I decided to take a look and was pleasantly surprised at her designs. I hit her up and decided to have a little Q&A with Natalie about her brand and her future.
Me: For those who have never heard of your clothing line ‘Laudme’ please explain how this brand came about.
Natalie: It was an idea I had after needing a creative outlet to express my point of view.
Me: What makes your designs stand out from any other clothing designer out there?
Natalie: The Laudme designs come from years of admiring legendary performers from the past, such as Dorothy Dandridge and old black Hollywood and noting the things that made them so charming and magnetic.
Me: Name three items of clothing/accessories you cannot live without.
Natalie: My rings, Nefertiti pendant, and sequins jacket.
Me: Where do you see the Laudme brand in the next 5-10 years?
Natalie: I can’t say what the next 10 years will hold. I’m at the mercy of the people. I’ll be happy to get through the first 5-10 months. I will say I hope to still be around making things that people want to have in their lives.
Me: Explain your personal style.
Natalie: My personal style is comfortable and traditional with a hint of 1970s glamour.
Me: Is there anyone who you would love to style/design for?
Natalie: The model for my next campaign. That way I can create an idea instead of painting on a used canvas.
Me: Are you working on any upcoming projects?
Natalie: Just the next season of Laudme!
Me: Let my readers know where they can contact you or catch you at.
Natalie: www.Laudme.com and to contact me email at info@laudme.com or on Twitter http://twitter.com/poshglamnat
*Shoutout to Natalie for doing this interview and I wish her all the success with her brand! Check out the video below from a behind the scenes look at a Laudme photoshoot!
